My Story

I'm Haneul Siddiqi, a documentary film editor based in Seoul, South Korea. My journey into filmmaking began in Lahore, Pakistan, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Media and Mass Communication from Forman Christian College. What started as a curiosity about storytelling has grown into a career dedicated to crafting meaningful narratives through editing.My first step into the industry was as an Assistant Director on Mazaaq Raat at Dunya News. Working in a fast-paced television environment taught me the value of collaboration, timing, and creative problem-solving. It was there that I discovered editing wasn't just a technical process—it was where stories truly came to life.Driven by a desire to grow, I moved to South Korea and joined Arirang TV as an editing intern. Adapting to a new country, language, and production culture challenged me in the best possible way, strengthening both my technical skills and my perspective as a storyteller.Over the years, I've explored a variety of creative fields. I worked in animation at Choi Rock Contents Company, creating content for a global YouTube audience, and later expanded into commercial editing at Super Bee, producing advertisements across different styles and industries. Each experience taught me how to connect with different audiences while adapting my editing approach to suit every project.During the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the opportunity to edit music videos for an entertainment agency, embracing another form of visual storytelling where rhythm, emotion, and performance came together.In 2021, I found my true creative home in documentary filmmaking when I joined Boda Media Group. Since then, I've focused on telling authentic human stories and exploring social, cultural, and environmental themes. My work includes Remember Me, a documentary highlighting endangered animals; Magnum in Shinan, featuring Magnum photographers exploring the beauty and people of Shinan's islands; Gwangcheondong, Mr. Kim; and The Future of Listening, an experimental documentary examining the evolving relationship between sound, technology, and human experience.For me, editing is more than assembling footage—it's about discovering the emotional truth within a story. I believe every frame, every pause, and every cut has the power to shape how people see the world. Whether I'm working on documentaries, branded content, or music videos, my goal remains the same: to create films that resonate, inspire, and stay with audiences long after the screen fades to black.
